Chris Markham

The following are works done either recently, or during High School.  I hope to be adding more, both new, and old pieces, as I convert them into a digital format.  The page is currently in a simplified format, and more info may be added at a future date, such as personal bio, etc. Please enjoy viewing the works as I enjoyed creating them.  You'll note a variety of styles with the High School works, as they were done to fit the assignments.  I have a couple sculpture pieces from High School as well, and will add them soon (though no new ones).

DRAWINGS

"Lord and Lady Markham"-Pencil on Vellum "Ainsley"-Pencil on Vellum "Wendy"-Pencil on Vellum "Bella"-Pencil on Vellum
This was done from a photo we (my wife and I) had taken at Islands of Adventure, in one of the photo shops. I then added a few touches, as well as the castle in the archway. 2003 This is Ainsley, daughter of some good friends of ours, also done from a photo. Done as a birthday present to her mom. 2003 One of my most recent works.   Another done from a photo.  This is my wife, and was done as a Christmas present to her. 2003 My most recent work.   This is Bella, daughter of some good friends of ours, done from a photo, as a Christmas present to her mom.  2004
"Still Life"-Pen and Sharpie on Heavy Paper "Dali's Dinner"-Pencil on Heavy Paper "Death"-Pencil on Heavy Paper "Room's Revenge"-Pencil on Heavy Paper
This was called "Fudging my homework".  It was morning, and I realized I hadn't done the assignment.  So, I threw a few objects on the table, and sketched them with pen and marker.  I actually like how it came out. Unlike the others, this was done with inkpen. 1988 This was done from still life, but I wanted to have a little fun with it, so I combined them in weird ways. (I'd also just recently seen some of Dali's work). 1989 Another assignment, this time we were to draw a word, illustrating that word as well as spelling it out.  I kind of went a little further with it, and tried to obscure the word a little bit. 1989 This was a fill-in assignment for Portfolio I.  I also have the sculpture that this room is based on (which will be posted when I finish painting it).  The couple was drawn off of a Skipbo game, hehe... 1989
"Eldynn Swiftblade"-Pencil on Scroll Paper "Master Zimms"-Pencil on Scroll Paper "Sharra Silvermoon"-Pencil on Scroll Paper "Mom"-Pencil on Vellum
D&D Character Sketch, this was my character in a recent campaign, an elven fighter-mage. 2002 D&D Character Sketch, this was one of our other DMs' favorite villains. (It's a little blurry, so I'll eventually post a better photo of it). 2002 D&D Character Sketch, this was my wife's character, an elven cleric-mage, with her little psuedo-dragon familiar. (It's a little blurry, so I'll eventually post a better photo of it). 2002 I did this for my mother for her birthday. It's from a picture she had of herself as a little girl, I think around 9 years old.  It was a surprise gift, as I did it from a photo of her old photo. 2004
"Reagan"-pencil on vellum "Bridge to Tomorrow"-Pencil on Heavy Paper
This was done for my brother's partner, a great guy, who happens to have a fondness for Reagan, and collects his memorabilia. 2004 This was for an assignment we were given to draw, based on one word... "Bridge".  Mostly, this one is about the fear of nuclear war. 1988

           PAINTINGS / PRINTS / OTHER / ETC.

Variety of media, including acrylic on canvas, watercolor, and silkscreen..

"Flowers"-Watercolor on Heavy Paper "Jester Bear and Snuffles"-Acrylic on Canvas "Sawgrass Scene"-Silkscreen Print "Jar"-Pottery
This was done from some flowers in class. Not one of my favorites, but it is one of the few pieces I have left from school. 1987 First painting I did after high school.  Just a still life of some stuffed animals. 1990 My one and only silkscreen.   There is a copy of this hanging in the New York Scholastic Art Gallery.  It's also placed first in our State Fair.  It's loosely done from a macro photo at Sawgrass Lake.  The blue is the water of the lake. 1988 Other than the room sculpture, and a Henry Moore-like plaster sculpture, this is my only other 3-D piece.  But, it was one of my only successes at the pottery wheel. 1988
"Losing My Marbles"-Acryllic on Canvas "Christmas Mural" Part 1-Acryllic on Glass "Christmas Mural" Part 2-Acryllic on Glass "Christmas Mural" Part 3-Acryllic on Glass
One of my few abstract works, and the second (and last finished) painting I did after school.  I currently have it in my office. 1990 Done for my last employer, with some assistance from another co-worker.  This was a Christmas mural done on the glass walls. (includes the next two shots). Also used some canned spray snow as well as paint.  Each Glass wall, is about 8' high! To get another idea of size, each ornament was about 4' high.
"Karen's Office"-Acryllic on Glass Main Princess Wall Ariel Wall Jasmine Wall
Done for a former boss, as part of the mural project, this was done on the glass wall of her office. This is the first image of a wall mural done for a friend's daughter.  A Disney Princess Castle themed room.  This is the main princess wall. (1) This is the next wall, and shows the door into the room, along with the next wall, featuring Ariel. (2) More of the same wall, showing the treatment around the closet and Jasmine flying above. (3)
Banner Wall Corner Crib Wall Snow White Corner Shelf Corner
Moving around the room, a banner was used to cover up a wall AC unit, and the castle motif is continued. (4) The crib is centered in the window, with this pic showing the treatment around the window. (5) Further along the same wall, Snow White is in the corner. (6) Moving further around the room, the next wall tower was made to frame an existing shelf unit. (7)
