March 13, 2001, Tuesday  Last weekend was the Will McLean music festival over near Brooksville. They had three stages going from 10am to 9pm Saturday and from 10am to 5pm Sunday. There was a different singer or group every half hour. Some repeats though on different stages. Really really great Florida acoustic folk music. They also had a story telling stage and an impromptu stage. Also just a lot of pickin’ and singin’ where I could sit in with my Djembe or Bass Box.

 

I took a lot of pictures with the new camera. Some were very good, some were awful. With full zoom in low light, you have to be awfully steady or get a tripod. I was neither on quite a few shots.

 

Stupid item: I slept in my van. I had a combo of foam and air mattress. Very comfortable. After about 3 hours sleep Saturday it began to get really cold! I piled on everythin I had with me and still was cold. Too sleepy to get up and do anything else though. Come morning I found I had left the driver’s side door open. So I had been sleeping in the “open”.

 

Now I have a lousy cold. I don’t think the chilly night was responsible. I had to pick up the bug somewhere!

 

My  one remaining client “up North” had some things he wants done. I think it will be fun. No steep learning curve, just programming in good ole Fox Base for dos. I’ve got to be careful though. I need to get in some exercise   every day otherwise I’ll just freeze up.

 

March 1, 2001, Very early Thursday morning.  Still not doing much writing. It seems the weather is really on my mind lately. Last couple of weeks have been in the mid 80’s and windows are open day and night. The warmth really makes me feel better, even though the damned arthritis keeps bugging me.

 

I got a new digital camera! The old one, I have had for four years and has served me in good stead. Still takes great pictures etc. But I want to take nice nature photos. The critters run or fly away when I try to get close-ups. So I got a nice Olympus C-2100UZ (UZ=”ultra zoom”) with 10x zoom and 1600x1200 pixels. I’ve already got some nice bird pix and portraits instead of “it’s that little black speck in the middle of the pix. Got all sorts of spare Nickel/Metal Hydride batteries and smart cards. So I can take hundreds of pix per expedition.    .

 

February 8, 2001, Thursday  Ok, so I don’t keep up a good log! But I’m back here again, that’s something at least. After just about the coolest winter on record we are warming up again. Nights in 50-60’s and days near 80.
