Religious
Education at Transfiguration This program ministers
to the children of our parish who do not attend Transfiguration School.
Enrollment for the Religious Ed Program was at an all time high of 129 students
this past year with twelve volunteer catechists teaching our children. On May 5, 2001,
thirty-one children of the parish received First Holy Communion. Confirmation preparation
classes were a separate and distinct program from religious education and the
parish school religion classes. The youth in 7th grade who wish to be
confirmed must attend these classes along with their regular religious education
either in the Religious Ed. Program or in the parish school religion classes. On
May 17, 2001, Bishop Lynch confirmed 45 seventh graders from our parish.
This coming year we are
implementing a new program called Family
Faith Formation. This program is an alternative to the Wednesday evening
classes. The whole family will work on lessons at home, then they will come
together as community on the first Sunday of each month. During these monthly
meetings, the adults will meet together for instruction and faith sharing; the
children will meet in age-appropriate groups for community building. We always
welcome new students to either program. We also welcome anyone who feels called
to share their faith with the children. Volunteer catechists meet for skill
development. The diocese also offers a Catechist Certification Process for any
who are interested. Religious Education 2001 - 2002 If you are interested in enrolling your child(ren) in the religious program or if you feel called to serve the young people of our parish as a catechist or youth worker, please contact Kathy Brasseur in the parish office at 525-0262. Registration for Religious Ed will be held in the Social Hall every Sunday in September after all the masses.
