Web Site Design

JohnBruce.Net, our most intricate, interactive website to date, was commissioned by John Bruce, a talented independent film bon vivant and reluctant TV star.

As a designer on the TLC design series "While You Were Out", Mr. Bruce wanted a site that would showcase his eclectic background and skill set. For this site, electricScribe worked in conjunction with Zachary Knight to produce a unique, flash-intensive site that is as interesting and beautiful as the creations of Mr. Bruce himself.

BioFax.com was founded in response to the growing plethora of mis-information disseminated by e-mail and the web. This not-for-profit organization is comprised of a group of health care and science professionals dedicated to distributing quality information to a public that has been inundated with urban myth.

Dee Gill's website was designed to showcase Ms. Gill's excellent portfolio to potential clients. We chose a limited pallet to allow the visitor to concentrate on the substance of the site, rather than its surface.

Working once again in conjunction with Zachary Knight, electricScribe managed the project, and provided editorial, design and Macromedia support.

Technical Writing

IBM Canada commissioned electricScribe to create an internal, widely distributed 41-page document designed to walk users through the process of rebuilding their machines to comply with internal requirements.

The document was produced in hardcopy format, using Microsoft® Word 2000, and PDF format, using Adobe® Acrobat® 5.0.

BackWeb Canada Inc. used electricScribe's services to redesign user documentation for their primary product line.

electricScribe conducted extensive research into the effectiveness of BackWeb's documentation set, including investigation of the user base and review of support records.

Our usability studies led us to recommended the 675 page, hard-copy manual be divided into several documents, each produced in a format most appropriate to the specific users addressed. This task was accomplished in less than six months, including revisions to reflect product updates.

Each document was designed to address users on a task-specific basis. Procedures used only during implementation of the BackWeb product were split out and generated in a hard copy format, using Adobe® FrameMaker® 6.0.

End user procedures, typically performed on an ongoing basis, were placed online, in web help format, using Robohelp® Office 9.

Support information was incorporated into an online FAQ, with several points of access, including an index, a table of contents, and a search utility. The support FAQ was produced with Robohelp® Office 9.

Aegis Financial Systems employed electricScribe for a major undertaking: complete design, creation and implementation of their user documentation. Within two years, electricscribe had written a 1,000 page implentation manual for Aegis' primary product line; a complete on-line help system for end users, and a variety of proposals, marketing brochures, presentations and product primers aimed at prospective and on-going clients.
