As you all know, our family is a "fishing" family.  We hope you enjoy our pictures of our catch as much as we enjoyed catching it!

October fishing out of St. Petersburg

This was an awesome trip for the boys.  Ron caught his very first Goliath grouper.  It weighed 60 lbs.  Too bad you can't keep them.  It was ok though.  They also caught some keeper red grouper.

June 12 - 19, 2004 - Bockman Annual Vacation - Cedar Key

This year, we spent the entire week at Cedar Key.  The tarpon made their presence.

June 14 - 21, 2003 - Bockman/Fitting Vacation

Pat and Tim Bockman and Bill and Derek Fitting came down to spend some fishing time with the boys in Cedar Key and Steinhatchee.  Here are some of the photos that were taken this week.

March 28, 2003 - Spring Break

This is the kid's spring break trip.  For awhile, it looked like they weren't going to get to go at all because of the weather.  At the last minute, the waves settled down to less than 2 feet, so the crew took off for a 2 day trip to Steinhatchee.  Jake caught his biggest grouper, the one on the right.  It was 34".  A couple of the grouper on the left were 32".  Justin caught the kingfish.  It was close to 4 feet long.  Ron and Justin worked real hard to catch a 50 lb. amberjack, but they didn't keep it.  Sound like a fish story to you?  Well, amberjack isn't our favorite fish, so they put it back in the water for someone else to enjoy!  Of course, the largest catch of the day was a 300 lb. bull shark.  Justin wouldn't let that one get too close to the boat before cutting the line.  Maybe next trip, they'll have a disposable camera on board.

Justin Voyles with Blackfin Tuna

Justin gave some of his tuna to Danielle.  She seared it with hot wasabi sauce and said it was the best sushi she had ever had.  We recently took some of the tuna and the grouper we brought home and made our own sushi.  We had tampa rolls (fried grouper, avocado, carrot and cucumber).  We also seared our tuna.  It was all EXCELLENT!  This was Jake's first time of having sushi.  He was very hesitant, but really enjoyed it.

In September, Justin and Ron got to go out by themselves.  Ron caught this massive grouper.  Pretty impressive for doing his own guiding!  If you're wanting to catch some fish, you should come on down, Ron's getting pretty good at scouting out the BIG fish!

Justin likes to go fishing out on the old Skyway bridge pier.  Many a weekend comes that we go out and catch bait (pinfish) to take up to Steinhatchee to catch the big ones.  Justin was fortunate to catch this painted cow fish.  Of course, he had to throw it back, but it was a thrill to see.

In August, the Janssen family came down for their first Florida vacation.  Over the weekend, the boys spent the weekend fishing and scalloping at Steinhatchee and the girls had a shopping weekend.  Kyle caught the only keeper grouper on that trip.  When the water was too rough, the boys went out scalloping instead.  They quickly learned how and decided it was a very enjoyable time...enjoyable enough to know that they would go again!  Dave and Kyle are shown below with the scallop catch of the day.  We took our scallops home and stir fried them in Italian salad dressing.  We also tried a mixture of dill and garlic, but we preferred the Italian salad dressing.

Justin and Jake try their hand at scalloping.

The Bockman Vacation - June '2002

Our old neighbors came down in June and we took them out fishing out of the Sea Hag Marina in Steinhatchee.  As you can see, we hit the jackpot with grouper.  We enjoyed their visit, as we miss them very much.  We can't wait until next year's visit(s)!

Mom and Captain Dennie with her first keeper grouper / Jake and a keeper grouper - April '2002

We bought our boat the beginning of April.  Our first trip out, Captain Dennie went out with us to help us get acquainted with the Steinhatchee area.  He put us on to some hot grouper spots and it wasn't long before Mom had her first keeper grouper.  Jake also got a keeper grouper, but it wasn't his very first.

Justin couldn't be outdone.  He also caught several keeper groupers.

Justin caught the first kingfish for the year at the SeaHag Marina.  This picture was featured on the SeaHag's website.

Prior to our having our own boat, we fished out of Steinhatchee with Captain Dennie Voyles.  He's quite the guide.  He put Jake on to some sheepshead.  This picture seems as though we have pasted an aquarium fish picture in front of Jake, but the fish is really that big.
