THE OUTLAWS
THE EARLY YEARS
(1966-1977)
So you think you know all about The Florida Guitar Army??

Welcome to Tampa-Home of the Florida Guitar Army!

This is not your "copied from the liner notes"  Outlaws site..
Get out your beverage of choice, crank up Green Grass and High Tides or your personal favorite
Outlaws tunes and find out what the liner notes and press releases didn't tell ya or maybe
didn't want ya to know.  Meet the early members  who never made it to the albums or album covers,

the roadies, the friends.  Find out where the former members of the Outlaws are now and
what they are doing today.  Browse never before seen photos contributed by fans and former
band members. Sometimes we even rope one or two into a live chat session...
Please note the dates this site covers....if they aren't on the players list,
they aren't covered on this site. This site is for the EARLY history of the band. There are discussions of later members on the message boards.

Taken and contributed by John Gellman
Note that shortly after this photo was taken, the city of Tampa chose to demolish the
historic Sulfur Springs Arcade to build a parking lot which sits empty most of the time.

Outlaws Members, Friends and Fans have ridden through here since Thanksgiving of 2000.  We are thankful every day that the Outlaws came to be.

Hughie Thomasson
1952-2007

Hughie Thomasson, lead guitarist for the Outlaws, passed away at his home in Brooksville FL on Sunday September 9, 2007 of an apparent heart attack
With him goes the essense of the Outlaws sound and energy. In this time we ask everyone to Keep Prayin' for the Thomasson family.
In an era when bands seem to have forgotten what LEAD GUITAR is, Hughie gave us all a reminder. He was a master of his art and will be greatly missed by all who ever heard him play.

MESSAGE BOARDS

Our message boards offer multiple topic boards not only for the various incarnations of the Outlaws, but also areas for discussion of the Henry Paul Band, BlackHawk and other bands in which various former Outlaws have been involved.  While the website focus is on the early, we realize that many of the fans out there have followed the players through a maze of musical efforts and are pleased to offer them an opportunity to discuss these changes through our board.  The message board has sections open to the public and others only open by membership. Membership is free to all those willing to abide by the rules. Membership can be requested via email-please include the username you wish to post under when requesting your password.
