I initially did not include Harvey Dalton Arnold on a separate page of this site because he wasn't one of the "early" guys, but I always had a great deal of respect for him because he jumped in and took up the gauntlet, in a VERY short amount of time, when Frank O'Keefe had to leave the band.  Shortly after the site went online, I received a really nice e-mail from Harvey (reprinted below with Harvey's permission):
i just happened upon your page and i thought id write to say that it is  facinating and very nice- i met hughie and the band as you knew them and i  was in awe also of their magic- frank had a feel all his own- he was great-
i  appreciate your mention of me and look forward to seeing more of their history-
i am by far more proud of hurry sundown than anything i did with the outlaws-  it was a cooking band-
billy, you were the man-
harvey
After that initial message, I've chatted with Harvey on numerous occasions and find him to be very down to earth and "real" and having seen him with the band, I can say he was truly "an Outlaw" of the finest order.

One thing I did ask him was how he came to become an Outlaw, which I'll try to relate here
(if I screw it up Harvey, holler at me ok?)

Apparently the band approached Wally Dentz (who later played with the Henry Paul Band) and Wally recommended Harvey.  Harvey was, at that time, playing in a band called "Fresh Squeezed" with Wally's former bandmate from Tight Shoes, David Fiester (who also became a Henry Paul Band member).  Harvey was NOT familiar with the material being played by the Outlaws at that time, at least not well enough to just jump right in, so Wally worked with him on the material and he squeezed right out of one band and into another with only a few days to learn the material.  I'm in AWE that someone could do that and do it as well as Harvey did!

Since leaving the Outlaws, Harvey has worked on some other projects including a album called "Midnight Daydreams" which included such legends as Jack Bruce (Cream), Buddy Miles and Billy Cox (Band of Gypsies), Mitch Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix Experience), and a lot more folks I'm too tired to name.  For more info on that project go to http://www.handymusician.net/cameronb/bcm_ndex.htm

Harvey currently lives in North Carolina where he plays bass in a blues band, and is now practicing his licks on slide guitar as well.  Apparently talent is not short in this family as Harvey's son Derek also has a band called Blue Dust Box.

We're a bit short on pics of Harvey (he doesn't have a scanner) so if you have some good photos,  I'm sure Harvey'd like to see them here.

I do have a few from the "Hurry Sundown" tour in the Phototrails Photo Album
