Dear Representative Morroni:
I am a registered voter in House District 50.
I am writing to ask for your support the remove the current Florida Helmet
Law. HB0117 has now been prefiled. This Bill will amend current
helmet law to apply only to those under 21.
Motorcyclist's around the nation and particularly
in Florida are rallying to restore our freedom of choice. We are
not saying we will not wear a helmet. We only want to make our own
choice. Will you help in this effort?
I will be calling your home district office
to schedule an appointment to discuss this issue and to answer any questions
you may have. I will also send some information to you that we can
discuss during my visit.
Sincerely,
Frank A. Mansis

Dear Senator Sebesta:
Senate Bill 0126 has been prefiled in the State
Senate to repeal Florida's helmet law. I would like you to support this
bill. As a registered voter in Senate District 22, this issue is
of great importance to me.
In 1995, the American Motorcycle Association
completed a study showing there is no difference in motorcycle accident
or fatality rates between states with mandatory helmet laws and those which
allow freedom of choice. In fact, states which support voluntary
use routinely achieve accident and fatality rates equal to or better than
states with mandatory helmet laws for all riders.
I will call you next week to schedule an appointment
to schedule an appointment to discuss this issue and to answer any questions
you may have. I will also send some information to you that we can
discuss during my visit.
Thank you,

Dear Senator Sebesta:
I am writing to ask that you support passage
of SB0126, a bill to allow riders to make their own decisions on helmet
use. There is a great deal of misinformation being put out by those opposed
to this law. Here are some facts they continually omit: Injured
motorcycle operators admitted to trauma centers had lower injury severity
scores compared to other road trauma victims. They accrued lower hospital
charges. They were less likely to rely on Medicaid and Medicare, and they
had about the same level of commercial or private insurance as other road
trauma victims. (University of North Carolina Highway Safety Research Center,
June, 1992)
Please restore my freedom of choice by co sponsoring
SB0126

Dear Representative Morroni:
I am again asking you to help pass HB0117,
a bill to restore my freedom of choice. Society's role is not to
mandate personal safety, but rather to provide the education and experience
necessary to aid us in making these decisions for ourselves.
Help us remove the restrictions on our freedom
by co sponsoring HB0117 and vote yes when it comes to the house floor.
Sincerely,

Dear Representative Bainter:
Thank you for you past support in co sponsoring
HB0457 last legislative session. I am hoping I can count on your
continued support this session.
As you are probably aware, new legislation
was prefiled on September 08, 1999. It is HB0117, An act relating
to motorcycle riders. As Chairman (or a member) of the Insurance
committee, HB0117 will soon be before you at a committee meeting.
Please use whatever influence you can during this committee meeting to
help HB0117 be reported favorably to the Florida House.
Responsible adults should be entrusted by the
state to make certain personal safety decisions, and the right to decide
whether or not to wear a helmet should be among those choices.
Thank you again for your past support

Dear Representative Rojas,
Thank you for your support last session in
co sponsoring HB0457. As you
know a similar bill was prefiled this year
in the Florida House. It is
HB0117, an act relating to motorcycle riders.
HB0117 is scheduled to be heard by the Judiciary
Committee on October 5,
1999. Since you are a member of this
Committee, I am hoping you will
continue your support on behalf of Florida's
motorcyclist as you have in
the past. Please take the time to explain
what this issue is about to
your colleagues to obtain a favorable
vote from the Judiciary
Committee.
Thank you again for your support in helping
us obtain the freedom to
decide what is best or necessary for ourselves.
Sincerely
Frank A. Mansis

Dear Representative Byrd:
HB0117, an act relating to motorcycle riders,
will come before the Judiciary Committee Tuesday, October 5, 1999.
This Bill is of great importance. It will allow Florida's adult motorcyclist
to make a responsible decision whether or not to wear a helmet.
Being a free citizen in America and in Florida
means being free to live our lives as we see fit, provided that we do not
physically harm the person or property of another. It means bearing
the responsibility of one's choices and decisions. Motorcyclists have shown
that they are no less responsible for bearing the consequences of their
choices then any other vehicle operator.
Please help us gain our right of Freedom of
choice by supporting HB0117 next Tuesday and when it comes to the floor
of the House of Representatives.
Sincerely
Frank A. Mansis

Feel free to cut and paste any of the above
examples to send to your legislator.
After you write your letter, get your friends,
family and co workers to also write letters. You don't have to ride
a motorcycle to care about freedom. Call or email everyone you know
and tell them about the issue. Let them know it is a personal freedom
issue. Give them the phone number of their legislator. A one
minute phone call to their legislator asking them to support Bill XXX is
all that is needed.
