As you can see it was a close vote. The bill actually passed 58 yea to 57 no with 5 not voting. The bill was carried over to the next session awaiting action in the Senate. In the Senate SB 224 was going through committees. On March 23, 1998 the Senate Banking and Insurance committee killed SB 0224. House Bill 0641 was then withdrawn from further consideration.
