I was riding with my girlfriend on Saturday. We
were on Casey Rd.
in Northdale and we were both exercising our choice to ride lidless. I
was stopped and issued a "no muffler" citation by a Hillsborough
motorcycle deputy. This deputy, in all fairness, didn't even mention the helmet
issue. He asked for proof of insurance, but my "geico" card
says "no personal injury coverage on motorcycles." I am relying
on my health insurance for the legal issue. He didn't ask for that from
myself or my girlfriend. My drag pipes ARE both illegal and VERY
loud. The Deputy is local and so am I. I have sat next to him in
traffic on a couple of occasions. This is the first time he has even
looked sideways at me. Also the people at "Tampa V-twin" in Lutz say they haven't
heard of anyone getting popped just for pipes recently. Anyway,
that's my story and again, I wasn't abused or even wrongly accused.
Strange how the first time getting pulled over since I was 19 was one week
after HB1911 went into effect...coincidence?
