Sun Coast Kite Club










Welcome

The Sun Coast Kite Club is an organization where kite lovers of all ages can gather to share their love of kites and kite flying. Our location on the Gulf Coast of Florida provides year-round flying fun. Throughout the year, we'll be hosting various events at some of Manatee and Sarasota counties beaches and parks. For instance, on the first Sunday of every month, our official fun-fly is held. Members and friends alike are welcome to join us as we decorate the skies with colorful displays of single and multiple line kites. These are all age, all skill level events. At any time you may see children flying their first small delta next to a seasoned kite builder adjusting the bridle on his newly crafted rokkaku! The wide beaches and park areas allow the stunters plenty of room to dazzle with their trick kites. We encourage anyone to come and give a kite a fly. Expert advice is always available from the knowledgeable folks at FLASH FLIGHTS Kite Shop.(They're the founders of the club!) Once you get bitten by the kite flying bug, you'll be hooked for life on this rewarding and fascinating hobby! We hope to see you at the beach! Visit this site often for updates on upcoming events.   • Attention: Please note that the summer's fun fly's have been scheduled to start at 5:00 PM to take advantage of the cooler temps and nice winds at that time. Keep this in mind when planning on attending.

  • Due to the ever changing wind conditions, the fun flys can be held
    at various sites to catch the best wind. Call Flash Flights kite shop or
