This website is dedicated to Team Associated Nitro.
I'm Dave and I have been
racing off-road since 1985. I got into RC's back in 1980 after buying my
first car it was a Tamiya Sand ????, it was made of cast aluminum, the
suspension was just like a VW, and it was completely water proof, I wish
I could remember the name. Anyway, I had Tamiya Hornets, Grasshoppers, A
Road Worrier ( like an F1) and a few more,
In 1982 I put the RC cars away and started flying RC plains, My
first plane was a MEN Trainer .40, then a Falcon 56 .40, A Super
Sportster .60, A Super Chaos .60 and 2 Super Hots .60.
I got back into RC cars in 1985 and that's when I got my first real
off-road race buggy, a RC10. It took me about 25 hours to put it
together, seemed like 3 weeks. I was amazed how the suspension felt and
I stayed up half the night just pushing on the chassis, because it was
cool. I found a local indoor track where people raced these things and
then I was hooked.
In1995 I got my first nitro, it was a RC10GT ST pull-start with a
Dynamite engine , man that was the coolest thing I had ever seen I
started racing it at a local clay oval track and found out very quickly
that I was not competitive, I found out what I had to do, so I spent
some money on a new engine, non-pull start setup and some gears and
became very competitive and fell in love with this hobby. I'm 45 years
old and still fell like a kid.
