James A Haley VAMC, Tampa FL. Manager for Quality and Information Systems, Pharmacy Department. Responsible for information and quality systems for the pharmacy department. This includes day-to-day operation of the system as well as long range planning and project management.  Projects have included the use of internet technology for physician order entry and the use of televideo technologies to provide pharmacy services at a distance (Tele-Pharmacy). The position involves project management as well as system skills. I hosted and managed a web site which the department used to provide ACPE approved Pharmacy CE. Current projects also involve publication and writing research grants. I have authored or co-authored  numerous papers on data mining, and application of systems technology and processes to health care.  I have also co-authored a $300,000 funded research project involving a web based interface for the VA's computer system.  In my role as QA manager, I am responsible for Quality Assurance inititatives, including projects designed to minimise error.

I am also the director of the PGY2 specialty residency program in pharmacy informatics. This program is being considered for accreditation by ASHP.

Self Employed, Phoenix Systems, Webster, NY. Phoenix Systems was a company that provided systems and pharmacy services to a number of clients. Clients included several nursing homes, one hospital and assorted small business. Services included supervising pharmacist chart review (Phoenix had several contract pharmacists), contract managing the pharmacy department of a large nursing home, designing and writing software. Software knowledge included RPG II, C, MUMPS and Pascal.

Operations Analyst, then Senior Operations Analyst, Upstate Health System, Rochester, NY. Worked on a project selecting Hospital Information Services for a multi-hospital group. This included writing the RFP and final vendor selection for a twenty two million dollar project. Duties included coordinating the user groups for all of the clinical departments as well as Patient Accounting.
