GAUDY - HORNUNG
AUGUST 31, 1940:Right:
The first wedding at St. Aloysius in the original wooden building was the marriage of Mary E. Gaudy to Ferdinand Hornung on August 31, 1940. The picture of the bride and groom is in front of the temporary church. It was a wooden structure with windows along both sides and had metal folding chairs that sounded a chorus of squeaks when everybody sat down. The wedding took place with the windows wide open and the wildflowers surrounding it blowing in the breeze.Right: The happy Hornung couple poses in the Gaudy backyard on Minnesota Ave.
