Statue of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, a prince from Italy who gave up the rich life to study to become a Jesuit and to minister to the poor and sick. He died at age 23 of the bubonic plague he caught helping those inflicted with the disease. This statue was donated by the C.Y.O Catholic Youth Organization. St. Aloysius Belltower. Sharon can remember these bells ringing out
the "Angeles" prayer everyday at noon. Photo by Joe Hayden.
St. Aloysius was built in 1940. It cost about $600,000, but is often called the million-dollar church.
It has inside walls lined in white marble. This is the cornerstone.
